Facebook to reach One Billion users in September

Chart-of-the-day-facebook-will-have-one-billion-users-by-september

Facebook says it has 800 million active users.

Building a chart based on previous user number announcements, iCrossings says Facebook will probably reach 1 billion users sometime in August 2012.

In the past, "active" has meant that these people log in once a month. What's truly stunning is that Facebook says more than 50% of its users log in every day.

Video: 'Liquid and linked' - Coke's Wendy Clark at Ad Age Digital Conference

An interesting video and insight into one of the biggest brands in the world.

Take outs:
  • "liquid" because the market landscape is constantly changing, and "linked" because no matter which media are used (or how), all brand messages should adhere to the overall strategy.
  • "A 'like' is important," she said. "A 'share' is more important. We have to hold ourselves accountable for creating content that is sharable."
  • "Everything communicates,": Use the assets already in the business - with a need for creativity in using owned media, citing Coca-Cola's use of increasingly smart vending machines, its fleet of delivery trucks and Coca-Cola cans themselves over the years.

Found: Super Bowl Sets All-Time Sports Tweet Record

Tpscopy

The Super Bowl XLV showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers set more than just an all-time TV ratings record. No, Green Bay’s taut 31-25 victory over Pittsburgh was also the most tweeted sporting event of all-time.

To be precise, at 10:07:16 Eastern Standard Time, Twitter users were sending out some 4,064 tweets per second, which shattered the previous record held by Japan’s 3-1 win over Denmark during last summer’s World Cup in South Africa. But more than that, global Twitter usage actually broke that recordsix times during Sunday’s contest.

"Where the Stuff on the Internet Comes From
Every day, thousands of stories are passed around the internet on blogs and via Twitter. A new study by Journalism.org has examined the source of those stories. It turns out, most of them come from old-school media. We may like to share information via Twitter, but the information we share comes from the morning's newspaper."
